- No, if a person wants to stay in Taiwan over 60 days but less
than 180 days, he must hold a 60-day extendable visa and apply
for an extension, before it expires, by summiting the relevant
documents to his local police station.
Q5. Can a visitor visa (Remark: P) get an extension?
- A person holding a visit visa "P" CANNOT get a visa extension
UNLESS he plans to visit family in Taiwan.

or residing in the State may not engage in activities or employment
that is different from the purposes of their visits or residence.
Q8. What are the hours of operation at the Taipei City Police Department Foreigner Service Center?
- The hours are from 08:30am to 05:00pm.
Q9. How to apply for a ROC ID number?
- To apply for a ROC ID number, the applicant should summit the
following documents to apply at the local police station.
1. For those in Taiwan:
(1)An application form.
(2)Passport with one photocopy; original to be returned
after verification.
(3)In cases of using a proxy:
a. One copy of Power of Attorney (or completed “Statement of Authorization”
included on the application form.)
b. Identification of the acting proxy: ID card, Alien Resident
Certificate, passport, etc.
2. For those outside of Taiwan:
(1)One completed application form.
(2)One photocopy of passport.
(3)Original Power of Attorney or Letter of Authorization
(or completed “Statement of Authorization” included with the application
form).
The signature of the principal should be consistent with that
on the passport.
(4)Acting proxy’s proof of identity: ID card, Alien Resident
Certificate, passport, etc.
