Q1. How to apply for a Police Criminal Record Certificate?
  1. To apply for a Police Criminal Record Certificate, the applicant should summit the following documents and NT$250 to the Foreigner Service Center at his local police station.
    1.An application form.
    2.ID (ID, ARC, or Passport) with a copy

  1. Yes, the following documents are required:
    1.Photocopy of passport （personal information pages）
    2.US$11 per application（cash only）, ordinary mail postage included.

Q3. Where can I have application forms for Police Criminal Record Certificate?
  1. The application forms are available:
    1.At the information counter of Tainan City Police Department Foreigner Service Center.
    2.At Tainan City Police Department Office Website （downloadable）.


Q4. Can a person extend his landing visa?
  1. No, if a person wants to stay in Taiwan over 60 days but less than 180 days, he must hold a 60-day extendable visa and apply for an extension, before it expires, by summiting the relevant documents to his local police station.


Q5. Can a visitor visa (Remark: P) get an extension?
  1. A person holding a visit visa "P" CANNOT get a visa extension UNLESS he plans to visit family in Taiwan.

  1. A person applying for an ARC needs to prepare the following documents:
    1.An Application form with one copy (a photocopy or the carbon copy that comes with an original application.)

    2. Extendable Visa （Please check the “Remark” area of your visa to find out the purpose of your visa.）
    3. Relevant documents（which can be accessed on line at the website:http://www.tncpi.gov.tw
    According to Immigration Act article 27: Aliens who are visiting or residing in the State may not engage in activities or employment that is different from the purposes of their visits or residence.


Q8. What are the hours of operation at the Taipei City Police Department Foreigner Service Center?
  1. The hours are from 08:30am to 05:00pm.


Q9. How to apply for a ROC ID number?
  1. To apply for a ROC ID number, the applicant should summit the following documents to apply at the local police station.
    1. For those in Taiwan:
     （1）An application form.
     （2）Passport with one photocopy; original to be returned after verification.
     （3）In cases of using a proxy:
    a. One copy of Power of Attorney (or completed “Statement of Authorization” included on the application form.)
    b. Identification of the acting proxy: ID card, Alien Resident Certificate, passport, etc.
    2. For those outside of Taiwan:
     （1）One completed application form.
     （2）One photocopy of passport.
     （3）Original Power of Attorney or Letter of Authorization (or completed “Statement of Authorization” included with the application form).
    The signature of the principal should be consistent with that on the passport.
     （4）Acting proxy’s proof of identity: ID card, Alien Resident Certificate, passport, etc.
